I Got to Race Today
Today, 274 days after suffering a stroke, and 156 days after a surgeon inserted a plug into my heart, I got to race.
That’s it. I just wanted you all to know. I want EVERYONE to know. I GOT TO RACE TODAY!!! I didn’t win. I didn’t even get a PR, but I RACED!
In the words of Steve Prefontaine, “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” I was given a gift, some may call it a second chance. I will not sacrifice the gift.
